Breast Reduction Surgery |

Large breasts can be a significant burden for many women. They
can cause neck and back pain, shoulder pain from bra straps, problems
with rashes and infections beneath the breasts, difficulty with
exercise and attempts at weight loss, and problems with finding
correctly fitting bras and clothing, especially if the breast size
is out of proportion to the rest of the body. Breast reduction surgery
can therefore result in a tremendous improvement in a woman’s
daily comfort and quality of life.
All types of breast reduction surgery result in some form of scarring.
The extent and placement of these scars will be determined on an
individual basis, depending on the amount of reduction required,
and the quality of the breast tissue and skin that remains. Mr Morgan’s
aim is to achieve a breast shape that is natural in appearance and
that is in proportion to the rest of your body. Sometimes liposuction
can be performed as an additional procedure to provide the finishing
touches and achieve the desired result.
Breast reduction surgery is performed under a general anaesthesia
and requires a hospital stay of between one and three nights. A
bra will need to be worn day and night for at least 2 weeks post-operatively
to provide support for the healing breast and to maintain a natural
shape. Light activity is encouraged as soon as possible, and many
women will return to work within 3 weeks.
Most women who undergo breast reduction surgery are thrilled with
the result and the improvement in their daily life. For many, their
only regret is not having had the procedure performed earlier.
